Itinerary
Day 2
the Old Town
Begin your second day in Palma de Mallorca with a tour through the Old Town. Discover the city's old town. You will undoubtedly fall in love with Palma's small streets.
Have breakfast at Palma's first third-wave coffee shop, La Molienda, which serves locally produced food and coffee roasted nearby Barcelona. For something more approachable, try eggs and avocado.
Take a bike ride around Palma to burn off your breakfast. The island is renowned for its cycling because of the lovely year-round weather, breathtaking scenery, and ideal road conditions.
You can get quickly off the beaten path by hiring a bike or strolling through the Old Town while admiring views of the Cathedral of Palma, City Hall, and Plaza Mayor.
Plaza Mayo
If you choose the bike tour, your journey will finish in Plaza Mayor, where your tour guide will assist you in finding some regional tapas and drinks. If you're walking, you may quickly find a place for an afternoon bite and drink in one of the many charming tiny bars that line this enormous square in the city's centre. Additionally, throughout the year, it hosts artisanal markets on Mondays, Tuesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays. Pick your favourite location and take up some sun while people-watching.
Palma's Royal Palace
Officially, the Spanish royal family resides in the Royal Palace of La Almudaina. In addition to being the final resting place for numerous kings and queens, it also houses early 20th-century extensions by renowned architect Gaud. In the Santsimo Chapel, you may see artwork by Miquel Barcelo. If you have a ticket to enter, you'll see furniture and tapestries representing various periods in the palace's history as you walk through ornately adorned hallways beneath stone arches.
Passeig del Born's
Take a stroll down Passeig del Born's tree-lined promenade to treat yourself after a day loaded with culture. There are countless charming shops down its length, where you can purchase high-end designer boutiques, regional specialities, and souvenirs like Mallorca's renowned Palmaira pottery or sandals.
Day 3
Set out on a coastal voyage
It's ideal for enjoying some time in the sun on the sand in the morning. Grab breakfast at one of the many beachfront restaurants along Avinguda de Joan Miro in Platja de Cala Major by taking a bus from the heart of Palma. Take a sailboat tour that travels south along the coast to Cala Vella and reserve a spot for yourself.
The Miro Foundation
The Miro Foundation, a hidden gem located just outside the city, provides an intimate look into the mind of renowned Spanish surrealist painter Joan Miro. You can visit his studios, where he spent 30 years living and working, by purchasing an access ticket. You'll be able to learn about his creative process and see several of his finished works. Even better, you may stroll through the magnificent gardens of the Foundation, which are dotted with his sculptures.
Marivent Gardens
Take a stroll in the Jardin de Marivent, a beautifully tranquil botanical garden next to the Marivent Palace, the Spanish royal family's summer residence, after you've immersed yourself in all things Miro. The surrounding landscape has stunning views, with the castle perched directly on the cliffs. Along with a dozen other bronze statues by Miro, the gardens are also home to more than 40 native Mallorcan plants.
Bellver Castle
One of the first completely circular fortresses in Europe, Bellver Castle has watched over the city for almost 700 years. Before crossing the moat, make your way around the keep, and ascend to the rooftop. Take your time to admire the lovely Gothic arches in the building's central courtyard.
Day 4
Departure
With a thriving bid farewell to Palma Mallorca.
Happy journey.
