New York is self-explanatory. But if it did, we couldn't leave out Lady Liberty, the world-famous Broadway theatres, and the breathtaking Central Park. Spend an idyllic city break surrounded by skyscrapers and unrivalled shopping - you'll feel like you've stepped into a scene from your favourite movie! On your New York holiday, explore everything the Big Apple has to offer.
New York City the name carries many associations and expectations, from its awe-inspiring skyline to its beautiful parks and museums. New York getaways have something for everyone; we've all fantasized about visiting New York City on holiday. In the movies we've seen, we've seen it a thousand times. It's time to put your feet on that famous grid system, step into those mile-high elevators, and stroll through Central Park. New York, America's most populous city, is often referred to as "the city that never sleeps," and for a good reason; there is so much to see and do in New York that you will wish you didn't have to take a nap during your visit.

Itinerary
Day 2
See the Statue of Liberty by boat
Cookshop serves a delectable brunch (New York City's favourite meal of the day) before donning your tourist hat - we're sorry, it has to be done - and paying a visit to Lady Liberty. Pretend you're Ilsa on her way to New York after Casablanca as you approach this symbol of the American dream by boat. Return to dry land by visiting the High Line, a public park built on decommissioned elevated railroad tracks. When you're ready to return to street level, visit Chelsea's art galleries, shops, cafes and the Meatpacking district. Return to your luxury Plum Guide NYC residence and prepare for another evening in the City That Never Sleeps. Tonight, you're going to a Broadway show, followed by a post-theatre dinner at Carbone, a downtown Italian restaurant.
Day 3
Spend the day in Greenwich Village
Remember when you realized that being a slam poet, theatre actor, or jazz guitarist wouldn't pay the bills? Spend the day in hip and arty Greenwich Village to relive those carefree days. There are bookshops where you can spend hours browsing, cafes where you can read Proust over a cappuccino, and friendly, expensive boutiques where you can treat yourself with souvenirs. When you're hungry, try Raouls, a classic cafe dating back to the 1970s, or ZZ's Clam Bar, an ultra-exclusive seafood joint. Anyone for oysters and caviar?
As the song goes, that's where you'll be this evening. Before dinner at the upscale Village restaurant Loring Place, start with a glass of wine (or three) at the buzzy Amelie Wine Bar. After that, it's live jazz at the Blue Note or, for Marie's Crisis piano bar, for karaoke and musical theatre fans, where you can sing until your kids refuse to speak to you again.
Day 4
Take a trip to Brooklyn
Your 6-day New York itinerary would be incomplete without a day in Brooklyn - you know, the place where the tree grows. Head to Brooklyn Heights if you consider yourself nerdy but cool - family-oriented, composts regularly, coffee obsessed, etc. If you're more of a hipster - that is, you dress your baby in tracksuits and a beanie, wear socks with slides, and eat at restaurants that don't have signs on the door - you're off to Williamsburg. After spending a long and glorious day escaping Manhattan, nothing beats pizza for comfort, so stop by Brooklyn's iconic Patsy d'Amores for a few slices.
Day 5
Admire an abundance of artwork
Do you realize you've been in New York for five days and haven't had a bagel yet? Never fear, Murray's Bagels is here to repair the damage - a must-stop on any NYC food tour. Following breakfast, proceed to the Bowery neighbourhood, where the New Museum, Manhattan's only dedicated contemporary art museum, is a 15-minute walk away. After you've had your fill of art, don't miss out on the Bowery Poetry Club and Cafe, as well as the antique furniture store Olde Good Things. And when you thought you couldn't go another day without going to the pub, we send you to The Wren, one of the Bowery's most notable establishments. When the evening arrives, head to Sushi Inoue for the omakase of your dreams.
Day 6
Venture out to see unforgettable views
After spending the previous five days as a tourist, it's time to do what the locals do and go on a day trip. Hiking in beautiful Breakneck Ridge, a mountain along the Hudson River between Beacon and Cold Spring, New York, if you're sporty and want to soak in some nature. Enjoy unforgettable views of the tree-lined Delaware River while sipping a beer at the top (that's us doing the adult equivalent of dangling a carrot - you're welcome). Storm King Arts Center Hudson Valley is an excellent choice for a cultural outing. These 500 acres of monumental modern and contemporary sculptures dotted around magnificent grounds are only an hour's drive from Manhattan. After a hopefully sun-drenched day out, return to the city for a farewell dinner at The Grill, a mid-century New York chophouse.
