Itinerary
Day 2
Admire the Acropolis
Step into Acropolis. The city's most recognisable symbol is found here. The city can be seen from the Acropolis, and the Plaka hugs the bottom of the hill. The Acropolis is the most popular destination on earth; visitors are welcome to stroll around the ancient buildings but not inside.
Explore the Parthenon
Next, explore the Parthenon, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and Athens' emblem, which is original. The structure was constructed in homage to the city's patron goddess, Athena. The architect Entasis employed optical tricks to give the Acropolis a feeling of lightness and elevation. Tourists, natural disasters, and vandals stole a portion of the temple. A portion of the collection is now on display in London, and Lord Elgin played a significant role in the theft.
Visit Plaka
After leaving Parthenon to visit Plaka, on the same piece of land as ancient communities, the neighbourhood of Plaka is located at the base of the Acropolis. In the present, it is a maze of confined streets dotted with exquisite Neo-Classical structures. The balconies of several of the homes are covered in flower boxes and have red tile roofs.
Market and retail shopping are both available at the Plaka. In addition to the Sunday morning antique market, there is a flea market for used goods.
Go to the Theater of Dionysos and Odeion of Herodes Atticus
Afterwards, go to the Theater of Dionysos and Odeion of Herodes Atticus. The Herodes Atticus Odeion Theatre was constructed between 160 and 174 AD, and the cedar wood roofed limestone building was coated with marble. A three-story, 28-metre tall structure called a skene with arched niches is located behind the stage.
Theatre in Europe is thought to have begun in the Theatre of Dionysos in the fourth century BC. Here were staged the world premieres of plays by Aeschylus, Sophocles, and Euripides. The theatre had an auditorium with 64 rows of stone seats that could accommodate 17,000 spectators.
View the temple of Olympian Zeus
Next, visit the most significant temple in classical Greece, the Olympios Zeus temple. The Roman era's second century saw the construction completion, which started in 515 BC. It is believed to have suffered damage in a mediaeval earthquake and then been dismantled for building materials.
Only 15 of the original 104 columns are still in place. The marble for the temple was shipped from Italy's Black Sea coast and brought from Mount Pentelus.
Day 3
Explore the old city of Rhodes, Rhodes town
You can hop into the historic city of mediaeval times; the Grand Chief's Palace is well-known. It is the castle of the knights' chief, and it was built in the 14th century and demolished in 1856. The knight palace is beautiful and grand, luminous and impressive. Constructed on a grand scale by the Italians and used as a gateway for Mussolini and King Emmaus III.
The Valley of the butterflies
Leave the palace and step into the Valley of the butterflies. From May to September, thousands of different coloured butterflies are attracted to these valleys by the aroma of the resinous benzoin trees. It is visible near rivers, ponds and blooming flowers.
Day 4
Departure
It's time to leave. Pack your things and get ready to fly.
Bon Voyage!
