As the landscape opens up, you’ll be treated to breathtaking views of Mawenzi Peak, one of Kilimanjaro’s jagged summits. The hike, which typically lasts five to six hours, ends at Horombo Hut, where you’ll spend the night. From here, you can take in the majestic views of Kibo Peak and the expansive plains below. Dinner is served as you rest and acclimatise to the higher altitude.

When you return to Horombo Hut, you'll be served a nice lunch and have the afternoon to relax until dinner.
Day 5
Horombo Hut to Kibo Hut
You will hike through a variety of environments on your way from Horombo Hut to Kibo Hut, including heathland and the desolate highlands between Mawenzi and Kibo. The route is bordered by volcanic boulders that were left over from earlier eruptions, producing a barren yet breathtaking scene. The final stretch to Kibo Hut is steep and challenging, but the anticipation of the summit fuels your determination. Upon arrival, you’ll prepare your gear for the upcoming night ascent to Uhuru Peak. After dinner, it’s time to rest and gather strength for the summit attempt.
