Get Active on the Aegean
- While boat trips are the most popular way to get out on the water in Bodrum, more active visitors can choose from various water sports available at the peninsula's various beaches.
- Kayak rentals are popular at beaches like Bitez, Ortakent, and Gümbet, and those seeking more thrills can go parasailing at any of these three locations.
- Paddleboarding has recently gained popularity and is now available at some beaches on the peninsula, including Turgutreis and Ortakent's Camel Beach.

Explore Bodrum Old Town
- Bodrum's most exciting area is the narrow lanes surrounding the beach, bazaar, and marina.
- Bodrum's passageways are lined with bougainvillaea-draped and vine-clad whitewashed cottages, giving it a distinct Aegean ambience and charm that distinguishes it from Fethiye's other seaside tourist spots, which have a more modern aspect.
- The rambling, twisting roads, where you can still get a sense of the fishing hamlet it was once, are the most intriguing part of Bodrum to capture for photographers.
- Duck up the skinny lanes that lead off the waterfront and go for an aimless wander is the best way to explore.
- The more central lanes are peppered with cafés and restaurants, making for excellent pit stops while strolling.
Shop at the Bazaar
- Bodrum has everything you need for some retail therapy. Behind St. Peter's Castle, a series of shaded lanes make up the modern bazaar area.
- After dark, when restaurant patrons come here for an after-dinner stroll, it's at its busiest.
- The bazaar in Bodrum is a more upscale version of a traditional Turkish market, with proper shops rather than stalls.
- It doesn't allow for much haggling, but what it lacks in authenticity makes up for in variety.
- There's something for everyone here, from Turkish and Central Asian textiles, colourful local pottery, and hand-crafted woodwork to a bling-fest of gold shops, snazzy beachwear, and fashion.
- There are restaurants, ice cream parlours, and dessert shops strewn about the area.
- Bodrum is all about meandering between shops after a day of sunbathing.
