The Best Places to Visit in Lucerne
Chapel Bridge
- The historic Chapel Bridge or its successor is probably Lucerne's most popular photogenic location.
- The famous bridge was constructed in the fourteenth century and was considered the oldest wooden bridge in Europe until it burned down in 1993.
- The bridge was quickly reconstructed and is still charming. More than 100 images depicting Lucerne's life in the 17th century are hung from the rafters of the reconstructed bridge.
- Patron saints are depicted in these images as well. The covered bridge diagonally over the River Reuss.
- The bridge is sometimes referred to as Kapellbrücke and is named for the neighbouring St. Peter's Chapel.
Old Town
- Lucerne's Old Town (Aldstadt) is small compared to other European cities, yet this only makes it simpler to navigate.
- The right bank of the River Reuss, crossed by the Chapel Bridge, is one of Lucerne's most popular tourist attractions dating back to the fourteenth century.
- The Old Town, encircled by the city wall and features fountain-filled squares and cobblestone streets, has been meticulously kept.
- Visitors will notice murals painted on many buildings as they meander through Old Town, one of Switzerland's loveliest.
- Additionally, travellers will see the colourfully painted, wood-timbered homes of mediaeval burghers. In 1602, the Italian Renaissance Town Hall was constructed.
Mount Pilatus
- Mount Pilatus, another mountain massif that towers over Lucerne, comprises some peaks.
- Tomlinson, which rises to a height of 2,128 metres (6,982 ft), is the tallest mountain.
- The mountain Mount Pilatus is revered as the city's symbol.
- The journey to Mount Pilatus is an experience in and of itself: passengers use the steepest cogwheel railway between May and November.

- The "Golden Round Trip," which includes a boat excursion across Lake Lucerne and a ride up the mountain, is available to tourists throughout the summer.

Säntispark
#Fun
- A superb indoor water park can be found at Säntispark, a sizable entertainment complex close to St. Gallen.
- The Wildwassercanyon (shown above), a lengthy water slide with a lot of water pouring through it, feels like you're travelling down a river, which is the primary draw.
- They also have a lazy river, waterfalls, a heated outdoor leisure pool with bubble jets, standard water slides for both big and young children, and a wave pool.

Aquabasilea
#Fun
- The spa and indoor water park Aquabasilea features numerous waterslides and a tranquil oasis setting.
- There are numerous conventional waterslides with varied excitement for all ages, some of which have tubes.
- Although there aren't any kiddie slides, young kids can ride on most of the slides with an adult.
- A relatively flat slide whips you back and forth and empties you into several pools along the route, resembling rapids.
- There are two "wild water canyons," one within and one outside. A few large heated pools with bubble jets are available for adults to unwind.
- There are a few saunas in the main "Wasserwelt" and an adult-only "Saunawelt."
Alpamare
#Fun
- The most well-known and pricey indoor water park is called Alpamare, located approximately 20 minutes from Zurich.
- Most of the slides are somewhat frightening, and the wave pool and river are pretty strong, so it's preferable for older kids.
- Though it has its charms, it isn't one of our favourites. The attractions are crowded in cramped quarters, with tiny walkways connecting them.
- Our favourite part was the wave pool since it genuinely has breaking waves you can body surf on, unlike other waves that bounce you around.

Lucerne: Natural Beauty & Safari Adventures
- What a lovely hideaway close to the city of Lucerne! Although it is only an 8-minute bus journey from the Lucerne train station, the bustle of the city seems a world apart at this lovely lake.
- It is affectionately known as Lake Lucerne's little brother and is located in a long, tranquil valley with views of illustrious alpine ranges in the distance.
- There is a short-cut ferry in the middle of the lake and an easy stroller-friendly trail that circles it.
- The lakeside region is kept pure and undeveloped because it is a designated nature reserve.
- There are several places to relax: a sizable grassy area for playing lawn games, a lovely playground with swings, and a tall slide. Fortunately, swimming is permitted in the Badi at one end of the lake.
- Suppose you reside in or are staying in Lucerne city. In that case, this is the ideal short and straightforward nature excursion, especially since the bus ride is included in the Zone 10 city ticket, free for anyone staying in a hotel or other type of holiday rental in Lucerne.
- This would be my first pick if the kids needed a break from the city and a place to run around after a hard day.
