The Best Places to Visit in Malmo
Oresund Bridge
- A 15-minute drive from Malmö city centre is the spectacular Oresund Bridge (resundsbroen).
- This majestic bridge has garnered more fame as the focal subject of the blockbuster successful Danish/Swedish TV drama The Bridge, which was decades in the making and opened in 1999.
- Those who have watched the series will recognise the majestic edifice that now connects Sweden and Denmark, and hence the entire European continent.
- The bridge has three functions: road, railway, and tunnel.
- The first stretch to the artificial island of Peberholm is around eight kilometres long.
- It connects to a four-kilometre tunnel built to avoid interfering with incoming flights at Copenhagen Airport.
Turning Torso
- The most talked-about building in southern Sweden is located around 2.7 kilometres from Malmö Central Station and is easily accessible by bus or automobile.
- The remarkable Turning Torso is 190 metres high and incorporates residential, office, and meeting spaces.
- It is the world's first "twisted skyscraper" and the tallest structure in Scandinavia.
- The skyscraper is inspired by a sculpture called "Twisting Torso" by designer, artist, and architect Santiago Calatrava, which was featured in the competition brochure for the design and building of the Oresund Bridge.
- It took four years to complete the cutting-edge structure. It was built in 2005 and is powered by locally produced renewable energy.
- This striking and iconic structure has cemented Malmö's place in the architectural world.
- When visiting the region, the views from the observation deck on the 49th level are a must-see.
Lilla Torg
- No matter the season, Lilla Torg — literally "Little Square" — is one of Malmö's busiest sites.
- Its history may be traced to the 1500s, when a mediaeval market was established.
- It's now the best place in Malmö to drink coffee, relax, and people-watch. Numerous terraced cafés with views of the town square compete for space.
- All provide a diverse menu, ranging from traditional Swedish fare to sushi.
- The Elite Hotel Esplanade's restaurant offers calm, excellent dining if the crowds get too much.
- Lilla Torg is also known for its charming merchants' or burghers' mansions from the sixteenth, seventeenth, and eighteenth centuries.

Saltimporten Canteen
#Food
- Sebastian Persson and Ola Lundin ventured to build this lunch-only restaurant on the point of Malmö's industrial port after closing their famed (and significantly ahead of its time) restaurant Trio.
- Although the walk from Central Station is dreary and chilly, it is well worth it.
- Saltimporten attracts a creative crowd, and the owners exude unpretentious energy that permeates the rest of the establishment.
- With meals that are borderline Michelin-worthy for only 95 Swedish kronor ($10), this may be the most significant value.
- There is only one vegetarian and one meat or fish dish each day, such as braised pork shoulder with mildly pickled tomato, white beans, and almonds, or shaved cauliflower with barley and pickled cucumber.
- Get in line, bring your cutlery, bread, drink, and eat at the dream canteen's counter. [$]
Restaurang Spill
#Food
- A husband-and-wife team founded this lunch-only restaurant — a former chef and the sommelier of two-Michelin-starred Daniel Berlin, respectively — where the whole menu is built with leftover food from distributors and manufacturers.
- They take things that would otherwise go to waste and convert them into dishes that combine Nordic comfort cuisine with acceptable dining methods.
- Depending on the products they receive, the menu changes daily. [$]
Pink Head Noodle Bar
#Food
- Pink Head Noodle Bar's original site in the newly created district of Västra Hamnen is by far the most fabulous booth at the bustling Malmö Food Court (Saluhallen).
- The menu is centred on three noodle-based dishes that change regularly.
- The hand-pulled biang biang noodles are always a good choice, especially when paired with the house-made XO sauce, often known as "Hong Kong Heroin Sauce", since it's so addicting. [$]
Hansa
#Fashion
- This shopping complex in central Malmö is on both sides of the road.
- It also features a new market hall where you may dine with friends while shopping for goods.
- COS, & Other Stories, H&M, Monki, and Weekday, are among the H&M brands grouped in one location.
Emporia
#Fashion
- The Emporia mall in Hyllie has a wide variety of stores and excellent service.
- With about 200 shops, restaurants, and cafés spread across three levels, 93,000 m2 is dedicated to shopping, eating, culture, and entertainment.
- Emporia employs roughly 3,000 people and receives approximately 25,000 visitors per day.
- On a cloudless day, visit the rooftop park to overlook the surroundings, the sea, the resund bridge, and Denmark.
Folkets Park
#Fun
- Folkets Park is the world's oldest folk park. Folkets Park has welcomed visitors for almost 125 years (c1891) to have fun, rest, and enjoy some of the park's amenities.
- Outdoor restaurants, bars, adventure golf, a terrarium, playgrounds, and a variety of children's activities are among the park's many attractions.
- There are trees, gardens, grass, ponds, and even a splash pad in the park.
- Enjoy outdoor concerts, cinema beneath the stars, big-screen football matches, parties, and the summer.
- The splash pad transforms into an ice rink during the winter where ice skates can be rented.
- Folkets Park is Malmö's most popular gathering spot for people of all ages. The park is always free to enter.

- Kungsparken, Malmö's oldest park, was founded in 1872 by King Oscar II.
- Kung Oscars Park is the formal name of the park; however, it is more frequently known as Kungsparken.
- It once housed the Park Restaurant, located in the park's southernmost section.
- However, the Casino Cosmopol is now located in this region and is worth visiting if you're feeling lucky.
- There are various ponds to walk around in the park, a fantastic cast-iron fountain in the centre and an extensive inventory of over 130 tree species from three continents.
- Pildammsparken is Malmö's largest park, located between Margaretavägen and Malmö Stadium.
- It's currently more popular for picnics and cultural events because it's built around a system of many ponds that were initially designed as a water reservoir for the city.
- The historic water tower occasionally hosts art exhibits, while the theatre hosts free plays and concerts.
- The park also boasts a vast bird population; look for ducks in the ponds or listen for parrots, peacocks, and other birds in the park's birdhouse.
