  • Fallas is a traditional celebration that takes place in Valencia and is one of the most popular fiestas holidays in all of Alicante.
  • Enjoy vibrant parades, lively music, and beautifully decorated streets – all part of the Fallas festivities.
  • Make this holiday season truly memorable by coming to Valencia to experience the legendary Fallas event!
  • It originated with garbage bonfires after the winter had passed and evolved into a Saint Joseph's Day celebration on March 19th.
  • The fallas are now giant papier-mache statues with satirical connotations directed at politicians.
  • The streets of Denia ring with the bursts of firecrackers for a fortnight as the falleras groups parade through town in their traditional costumes, supported by bands of musicians.
  • Every day, a mascleta (firecracker exhibition) is set off, with noise levels frequently exceeding 120 decibels! It all comes to a head-on on March 19th, when the statues are burned to a cinder.
  • Spain and bulls are linked, and Bous a la Mar is one of the most well-known fiestas in the Alicante region.
  • Denia's week-long running of the bulls takes place in July, and it's a chance for the young, brave, and foolish to test their wits against the bulls as they race along with Marques de Campo, the town's main street, to a makeshift bullring opposite the fishing port.
  • Spectators cheer the competitors as they approach the bullring and attempt to coax the beasts into the sea, hence the fiesta's name.
  • The Spanish are enamoured of fire, and thousands throng Alicante's beaches each year to commemorate the summer solstice on San Juan's feast day.
  • Alicante claims to have the best San Juan celebration on its beautiful beaches.
  • Thousands of people arrive with food and drink, often in family groups, to start bonfires and enjoy the party atmosphere.
  • Many intrepid adolescents risk severe burns by leaping over bonfires to bring them good fortune and riches.
  • During this time, the streets of Alicante are taken over by massive works of art, with complex monuments erected and burned in the streets.
