The Best Places to Visit in Palanga
A Day on the Beach
- Palanga's beach area is 25 kilometres long and has plenty of excellent, smooth, dune-sheltered golden sand to lounge on.
- The beach gets crowded with beachgoers during the summer when temperatures reach the mid-twenties, but it is more than big and roomy enough to manage the flood of people.
- Go away from the middle beach, where the sea bridge is located, if you prefer a calm day, and find a quiet area to relax in.
- By the way, the area around the bridge will always be fairly busy.
- But it's worth taking a stroll at sunset, so face the crowds!
Visit the Amber Museum
- A must-see in Palanga is the amber museum; amber is known as Lithuania's "gold" and is significant to the nation's culture, history, and economy.
- The museum is housed in Count Tiskevicius' 19th-century mansion and has almost 30,000 unique pieces of this brilliant stone, including the "Sun Stone," the third-largest piece of amber in the world and weighing more than 3.5 kilogrammes.
- You can visit the museum to see it along with the rest of the collection of Baltic gold, fossils, and amber-gilded tools and artefacts after it was twice stolen and then found its way back there (once even by the thieves themselves).
Curonian Spit National Park
- When the government realised in 1991 that the unique ecosystems that thrive there needed to be maintained, the Curonian Spit National Park (also known as Kuri Nerijos Nacionalinis Parkas) became a recognised and protected park.
- It's a good thing they did because the spit is vulnerable to natural erosion, wind damage, and human meddling.
- It's a lovely area for a stroll unspoiled by mass tourists and remains wild.
- There are extensive stretches of coastline and dunes in addition to the gorgeous pine trees that make up around 70% of the entire park and are home to elk, wild boar, and deer.

- The 260 water nozzles and 48 various colours of lights used to create the fountain can all move and change in time with the music being played.
- It looks best after dark and is quite lovely.
Stroll down Basanaviciaus Street
- It is a completely pedestrianised street that is equally crowded and active as the sea pier and the beach, and Palanga wouldn't be Palanga without it.
- It contains many stores, cafes, and restaurants, making it the ideal location for picking up some Palanga trinkets.
- Still, it also features some of the city's oldest and most traditional buildings.
