A Sneak Peek into Venice Treviso
- Treviso, the capital of the same-named province, is located 20 kilometers north of Venice in the Veneto plain.
- It's known as one of the "Little Venices" because of its canals and buildings that rise directly from the water, as well as the Venetian lions on its gates.
- Even though a modern wall decoration depicts a gondola prow and gondolier, you'd never mistake Treviso's vine- and flower-draped canals or its candy-colored buildings for Venice.
- Treviso is its own entity, and a delightful one at that.
- This is an old-world town with narrow streets, many of which are lined with arcades, and well-preserved 15th-century walls.
- The canals and walls make it a pleasant town to stroll through and admire the numerous frescoes that adorn the facades of the houses.
- Treviso's art-filled churches have been remarkably well restored and are worthwhile tourist attractions, despite being badly damaged by World War II bombing.
- Several of them contain frescoes by medieval master Tommaso da Modena.

The Best Places to Visit in Venice Treviso
Piazza dei Signori
- The picturesque Piazza dei Signori in Treviso's center houses the Palazzo dei Trecento, which was built in the 1300s and was once the seat of Treviso's government, as well as the 15th-century Palazzo del Podestà, which houses the tall Torre Del Comune.
- The town council is now housed in the Renaissance palace Palazzo Pretorio. Via Calmaggiore, Treviso's main street, runs between Piazza dei Signori and Piazza del Duomo and is lined with fine 15th- and 16th-century houses.
- It has a number of buildings with decorated facades and lunettes above their arched doorways, despite being only three blocks long.
- On market days in Treviso, the square is bustling with stalls and shoppers.
- The church of Santa Lucia, which faces Piazza San Vito but backs onto Piazza dei Signori, houses the saint's relics.
- It has a lovely peaceful interior with frescoed ceilings and remnants of medieval frescoes on the walls, despite its unappealing exterior.
- The tourist information office in Treviso is located in the small Piazza Monte di Pietà, which is located just behind Piazza dei Signori.
Cathedral and Museo Diocesano
- San Pietro's five-domed cathedral was built on the site of an earlier Romanesque church in the 15th and 16th centuries.
- The original church's crypt, which dates from the 11th and 12th centuries, is beneath it; the porch was added in 1836.
- Look for Titian's Annunciation, painted in 1517, and Pordenone's frescoes, completed in 1520, inside the cathedral.
- The Cappella del Sacramento is richly decorated with sculptures by Pietro and Tullio Lombardo, as well as L. Bregno.
- The Romanesque Baptistery, which dates from the 11th and 12th centuries and features 13th-century frescoes and a fine font, is located to the left of the cathedral.
- On Via Canonica, portions of a mosaic floor from a paleochristian baptistery have been exposed, as has the Museo Diocesano d'Arte Sacra di Treviso (entered through the cathedral), which houses sacred art and archaeological finds.
City Walls and Gates
- Treviso's well-preserved 15th-century walls aren't the first; the city was founded by the Romans, who fortified it from the beginning.
- The River Sile runs alongside the walls, and it was used in conjunction with the River Cagnan to further protect Treviso from attack.
- The water was diverted into canals that encircled the city and were designed to flood the surrounding lowlands, making a siege more difficult.
- The current walls, which are reinforced by earthworks, were constructed by the Venetians, as evidenced by the winged lions on the imposing gates.
- Treviso was Venice's main stronghold, guarding it against northern invasions.
- Take a walk along the city walls, or at the very least see the three main entrances, Porta San Tommaso, Porta Santi Quaranta, and Porta Altinia.
- You can walk along the northern rampart of Treviso, which was built in 1518 and offers stunning views of the Alps, from Porta San Tommaso, which is located in the northeast corner of the city.
Civic Museums: Luigi Bailo and Santa Caterina
- The collections of Treviso's Civic Museum are now housed in two separate complexes, following the restoration of the building on Borgo Cavour.
- The Luigi Bailo Civic Museum is dedicated to late-nineteenth-century and early-twentieth-century art, and it houses the world's largest collection of Arturo Martini sculptures, one of Europe's most important twentieth-century sculptors.
- The former convent of Santa Catarina, built in the 14th century but long abandoned and badly damaged during WWII, has been restored and repurposed to house the museum's medieval and Renaissance art collections. Bellini, Titian, Cima da Conegliano, Lorenzo Lotto, Pisanello, Pordenone, and a slew of other artists are among them.
- Tommaso da Modena's best-known work, a fresco cycle depicting the life of St. Ursula, is the highlight.
- These frescoes were moved here from the now-demolished church of Santa Margherita degli Eremitani in the 14th and 15th centuries and are surprisingly lively and dynamic.
- The frescoes rescued from patrician homes, public buildings, and churches that were scheduled for demolition are a less well-known but fascinating glimpse of Treviso in the late nineteenth century.
- The Santa Catarina complex also houses impressive archaeological collections, including bronze swords dating from 1600 BC.
- Three late-medieval buildings on Via Canova, Ca' da Noal, Casa Robegan, and Casa Karwath, round out the Museo Civico's holdings.
- They've been restored and furnished to show how people lived in the Middle Ages.
San Nicolò
- The Dominican church of San Nicol is a large Gothic church built in brick during the 13th and 14th centuries in the southwest corner of the old town.
- It has round piers and a restored vaulted timber roof with a unique vaulted design.
- Madonna Enthroned by Fra Marco Pensaben and Savoldo, 1521, is on the high altar, and Senator Agostino Oningo's tomb is by master sculptors Pietro and Tullio Lombardi, 1490.
- Gaetano Callido designed the elaborate organ, which was completed in 1779, and a nearby fresco depicts St. Christopher.
- However, the frescoes in the former monastery's chapterhouse are particularly impressive.
- A frieze of 40 fresco portraits of Dominicans by Tommaso da Modena, painted in 1352, surrounds the room.
- Even in this city, where there are so many examples of his work, it's their personality, even humor, that sets them apart.
- Even for a Giotto follower like Tommaso, the liveliness and individuality of each friar's portrayal is surprising for its day.

Venice Treviso Culture and Traditions
- Even a cursory glance at Treviso, which lies on the banks of the rivers Sile and Cagnan, elicits strong feelings.
- Treviso is a unique place that represents the perfect balance between the Veneto region's natural riches and culture.
- It is not to be confused with Venice, which it is frequently and incorrectly compared to.
- Everything is in balance, gentleness, and elegance: in a word, joy.
- As a result, the area from which it emerges was once known as 'The Joyous and Amorous Mark.'
- A medieval aura envelops this city, which is also a magnet for industry and manufacturing in the North-East.
- Countryside and green hills culminate in the civic splendour of wood and brick houses adorned with frescoes, lapped by the waters, and punctuated by willow trees which gracefully slope down towards a stream of water:
- The visitor is escorted through time by porticoes, gardens, and the Carraresi House, as well as the Loggia dei Cavalieri, among the noble residences of the Piazza dei Signori, which houses the symbol of Treviso in the Palazzo dei Trecento.

Ubriaco
#Food
- Ubriaco is a one-of-a-kind Italian cheese from Treviso, in the Veneto region. Cow's milk is traditionally used to make the cheese.
- It is allowed to age for a few months before being soaked in dry and sparkling Prosecco wine with seeds, skins, and other remnants from the winemaking process.
- Ubriaco has a soft texture when fully mature, but as it ages, it becomes firmer and crumblier. It has a floral aroma and flavors that are rich, full, and fruity.
- The cheese is thought to have been created during WWI, when local farmers used to hide their cheeses in wine barrels to hide them from soldiers.
Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco
#Food
- The DOCG region of Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco produces premium, high-quality Prosecco. The main grape variety in these prized sparkling wines is Glera, with Bianchetta Trevigiana, Perera, and/or Verdiso as common additions.
- With a straw-yellow color and fine effervescence, the wines produced in the region are refined and well-balanced.
- Wisteria, acacia, rose, and white-fleshed fruits like apple, pear, and peach are among the floral and fruity aromas. They may also have subtle citrus undertones.

- Glera is the main grape in the region, just as it is in Prosecco DOC.
- Bianchetta Trevigiana, Verdiso, Perera, and Glera lunga are among the permitted varieties.
- Prosecco from Asolo is known for its characteristic freshness, mineral flavor, and salinity.
Fashion
#Fashion
- Treviso's shopping is a relaxing activity; the historic center, which is closed to traffic, has a plethora of designer shops, bookshops, jewelers, handcrafts, and furniture.
- There is a large concentration of shops along the route that runs from Corso Del Popolo and passes through Piazza dei Signori and Via Calmaggiore, catering to all tastes. However, the historical center as a whole is a fantastic place to shop; just let yourself go.
- Every fourth Sunday of the month in Treviso, an antique market takes place in the Borgo Cavour area.
- Except in July and August, the best antique market outside of Treviso is in Asolo, which takes place every second Sunday.
Treviso the sustainable fun park
#Fun
- Argo has well thought of sharing with you this deepening and perfect example of "Alternative Efficiencies" as a professional and a fan of the "energys sector," intrigued by this idea "made in Veneto" (Italy).
- Mr. Bruno has spent 40 years in his garage building a sustainable fun park with 45 attractions that run on the energy of those who use them, in a forest of chestnut trees, plane trees, elms, beeches, birches, and poplars behind the tavern.
- All of this began with a simple idea when Bruno Ferrin decided to create toys for children: the classic children's slide, the seesaw, and gradually more ambitious projects such as trampolines, lianas, ferris wheels, and roller coasters began to take shape.
- From the giant trampoline to the Vitruvian Man attraction; from the pendulum to the "Bicycle of Death," the bob, the 40-meter-high slide, the war route, the cableway, and much more and it's not over yet because it appears that a new attraction is on its way: a giant catapult!
- The sustainable attractions are spread out over a 30.000 square meter area and, as we predicted, operate solely by the hand of one man.
- The park is approved, and maintenance is performed on a daily basis, and it is precisely to ensure everyone's safety and tranquillity that the entire project was developed and checked by qualified drafters and engineering firms in Treviso, who checked the flow rates, pressures, and took care of the testing.
