Best Months to Visit Dusseldorf
- One of those places you can visit at any time of year. The winters can be freezing, and the summers are known to have the occasional shower.
- Summer temperatures are fantastic due to the rain; bring an umbrella to avoid being caught off guard whenever you go outside.
- Düsseldorf is best visited in July and August. Because of the frequent showers, the weather remains pleasant despite the humidity.
- Spring (February-March) is another best time to visit the city because the winter is winding down and summer hasn't yet arrived.
- Winter (October-January) is the slowest month for tourists because, despite low rates, many attractions close early. And if you're not used to European winters, it'll be a strenuous visit, as this year is considered off-season in Dusseldorf.
- Some of the carnivals occur in July and November, which is an excellent time to visit this location.

The Best Places to Visit in Dusseldorf
Königsallee
- Königsallee, or "King's Avenue" in English, is Düsseldorf's most exquisite Boulevard and is believed to be Germany's ritziest shopping district.
- This long stretch of high-end real estate, comparable to Paris' chic Avenue Montaigne, was laid out in 1802 and attracted crowds with its eclectic mix of exclusive boutique shops, designer clothing stores, as well as numerous restaurants and cafés.
- There are also some good luxury hotels along the Boulevard, some of which have fantastic rooftop terraces.
- Königsallee stretches one kilometre from Graf-Adolf-Platz in the south to the Hofgarten in the north.
- It runs on both sides of the old town moat, a 31-meter-wide, tree-lined stretch of water that adds to the street's openness.
Rhine Embankment Promenade
- The Rhine Embankment Promenade (Rheinuferpromenade) in Düsseldorf is one of the best places on the city's beautiful waterfront.
- This long pedestrian route, which cafés, restaurants, galleries surround, and stores and the other by the mighty Rhine, was opened in 1997 to mask one of the city's busiest roadways.
- The one-and-a-half-kilometre, tree-lined promenade connects the Old Town to the state's Parliament buildings and offers endless chances for sightseeing and people watching, runs from the Oberkassel Bridge to the state's Parliament buildings.
Schloss Benrath
- Schloss Benrath (Benrath Palace) is a magnificent Baroque house built between 1756 and 1773 and is within a 10-kilometre bus ride from the city centre.

- The palace, built for Elector Carl Theodor, now houses three excellent museums that focus on various aspects of life in the 18th century.

Old Town Düsseldorf
- Düsseldorf's Old Town (Altstadt) is well preserved and should be on your list of must-see sights. The Marktplatz, where you'll find the majestic Town Hall (Rathaus) and a massive equestrian statue of Elector John William II constructed in 1711, is the heart of the Old Town.
- The Schlossturm (Schlossturm) near Burgplatz, on the Rhine's banks, is another landmark. The SchiffahrtsMuseum is one of Germany's best (and oldest) marine museums, with intriguing displays on the history of shipbuilding and trade.
- It is the only piece of the mediaeval castle that once dominated the city that has survived.

Dusseldorf Must-Attend Festivals and Events
- Carnival is undoubtedly the most popular event in the Düsseldorf calendar. The celebrations begin on November 11th at 11:11 a.m.
- The festivities stretch until Ash Wednesday in February and include large parades and spectacular costumes.
- Try catching some of the customary Kamelle candies, chocolate, and flowers that were thrown from parade floats (I always get a couple of bags full)!
- Düsseldorf spreads the halls with lighted Christmas light displays and holiday cheer every December.
- As you travel through this winter wonderland in quest of the ideal holiday gift, sip some mulled wine.
- This celebration in Düsseldorf dates back to the time of the Romans! St. Martin was a Roman legionary who gained fame for his generosity after sharing his coat with a freezing beggar.
- Locals take to the streets with lantern processions and sing to children to honour this act of charity.
- On November 10th, the St. Martin's Festival takes place (the day before Carnival).
