Tbilisi Culture and Traditions
- Tiflis Imperial Theater, formerly known as Georgian National Opera and Ballet Theater, was created in 1851. The Tbilisi Opera House is Georgia's primary opera house and one of the oldest of its kind in Eastern Europe. The theatre was designed by a well-known German architect in 1896.
- Rezo Gabriadze, a multi-talented Georgian artist, painter, filmmaker, stage director, writer, and sculptor, developed this unique Marionette Theatre. Kutaisi is the master's hometown. Gabriadze is the co-writer of such well-known Soviet films as "Mimino," "Kin-Dza-Dza," "Three on the Road," and others.

Tbilisi: Food, Fun & Fashion Guide
Khachapuri Adjaruli
#Food
- The amount of sulguni cheese alone in khachapuri Adjaruli is enough to send a lactose-intolerant friend to the ER.
- The depravity, however, does not end there. A baker parts the cheese seconds after the bread is taken from the toné to make room for the last flourish: hunks of butter and a cracked raw egg.
- When the seething mass is placed in front of you, use your spoon with confidence to violently swirl the ingredients together, working from the yolk out, until hypnotising spirals of orange and white appear.
- At this point, rip off a corner of bread and plunge it with conviction, lest the mixture cool.
- This is how Adjarians consume khachapuri, a cheese-filled bread offered hot in little bakeries nationwide.
- Georgia's national dish, Khachapuri Adjaruli, has triumphed over the competition.
Churchkhela
#Food
- The lumpy, colourful confections hanging in storefront windows, which tourists often mistake for sausages, are perhaps the most eye-catching Georgian dish.
- Patience and practice are required to make churchkhela: Grape juice concentrate (left over after the annual wine harvest) must be poured over strands of walnuts several times.
- Each layer is dried until the nuts are encased in a chewy, waxy shell.
- Churchkhela, high in protein and sugar, has even fought alongside the Georgian military, which relied on them for shelf-stable nutrition.
Khinkali
#Food
- A good khinkali, or Georgian soup dumpling, is judged by how many folds it has: Fewer than 20 is considered amateurish, according to tradition.
- When a tray of pepper-flecked khinkali arrives at the table, counting pleats is never the first thing on anyone's mind.
- Eating the khinkali is a rush job that necessitates speed and precision; if you don't learn the latter, you'll be teased if you're in Georgian company.
- To begin with, khinkali is a finger food: Make a claw with your fingers and grab the topknot of the dumpling.
- After that, slurp the soup by biting a small hole on the side and sinking your teeth into the filling.
Tbilisi Mall
#Fashion
- Tbilisi Mall, located on Davit Aghmashenebeli Avenue, is the first shopping mall in Georgia to meet international mall standards.
- It's a five-story building with 150 worldwide brands, banks, offices, bookstores, and a movie theatre.
- Aside from the conventional retailers in most malls, there are also technology stores, supermarkets, homewear, textile, and décor departments.
Karvasla Shopping Mall
#Fashion
- This mall in Tbilisi opened an outlet store for a European brand.
- GAP, ZARA, KOTON, H&M, and other brands were unavailable in retail malls until Karvasla.
- Karvasla, only 240 metres from the train station, is another shopping attraction with a diverse range of foreign and local brands.
Lilo Mall
#Fashion
- While Lilo Mall's location is problematic, it is very distant from the city.
- Lilo Mall is more practical than other malls, primarily focused on leisure and amusement.
- Not only apparel brands but also other categories can be found here.
- Wholesale trade; clothing and shoes; textiles and carpets; leather and fur; toys and accessories; building and repair supplies; dinnerware and home items; furniture and children's products are just a few categories available.
Rike Park
#Fun
- Rike Park is one of Tbilisi's newest and most modern public recreational places, and it is pretty popular with visitors and locals, especially during the summer.
- Rike Park is located on the Kura River's right bank. The famous pedestrian Bridge of Peace, built of glass and steel in a modern style, leads to the park.
- The recently opened cable car station provides quick and easy access to the Narikala Fortress right from the park.
- Rike Park was designed using Art Nouveau principles: there are no regular lanes or seats here, and the park is distinguished by its uniqueness and colourful features.
Mtatsminda Park
#Fun
- Mtatsminda Mount is the symbol of Tbilisi and is a popular tourist destination with various recreational opportunities.
- Mtatsminda means "Holy Mountain" in Georgian. At an altitude of 770 metres, Mtatsminda Park is Tbilisi's highest point, located on the namesake mountain.
- The views of Tbilisi are enthralling and exciting. Your visit will be unique and unforgettable thanks to the park's fairy tale atmosphere and modern children's attractions.
- The park is separated into numerous thematic regions, including a children's area, a family area, and an extreme area.
- There are numerous cafes and restaurants, attractions, amusement centres, and even a wedding palace to be found here.
- The road leading to Mtatsminda Park should be given special attention.

- However, it was known as the "King's Garden" until the 1850s because "royal gardens" were initially planted on the grounds of this natural park.
- The Botanical Garden is in the historic centre of Tbilisi, on Botanical Street 1, directly at the base of the mountain to the stronghold Narikala, where the main entrance to the garden lies.
- There are around 3500 plant species at the Botanical Garden, some of which are unique and uncommon exhibits.
- The park's vast territory is a gigantic garden of unparalleled beauty, with fountains and actual waterfalls spanned by lovely bridges.
