- Since the Belle Epoque, the Grande Plage, Biarritz's most central beach, has drawn high-society holidaymakers.
- This long, sandy beach runs from Bellevue to the Hôtel du Palais at the Boulevard du Général de Gaulle.
- The beach is busy with sunbathers and their vividly coloured striped cabanas during the summer.
- Lifeguards are on duty from May through October, with longer hours during peak season.
- However, it is crucial to note that this beach has strong surf, and water safety signs are placed regularly.
- Bathing, swimming, and surfing are forbidden during specific periods of strong currents.
- The Quai de la Plage promenade, which runs alongside the beach, is ideal for a stroll. The breaking surf and the Biarritz lighthouse may be seen from this wide pedestrian path.
- The Hôtel du Palais Biarritz is located on a cliff at the end of the Grande Plage.
