Dark Rye Bread
#Food
- According to Chef Ants Uustalu of öbiku Gastronomy Farm, this famous traditional Estonian bread is present on every table, a quintessential component of the Estonian culinary tradition, whether home-baked or home-baked or purchased at your favourite bakery.
- It's also a slow-cooking ode. The components are kept simple: rye flour, water, salt, sugar, and yeast; however, other ingredients such as seeds and nuts, dried tomatoes or other fruits, and garlic can be used (or pretty much anything for that matter).
- A slightly moist and delicious piece of bakery known as black bread or Leib in Estonian keeps the heart happy and the stomach satisfied.
- If you don't have the opportunity to visit Estonia anytime soon, you might always try baking it yourself.
- The result will be well worth the work – and there will be a lot of it since this regional delicacy takes at least 12 hours to create.
Kiluvõileib – Sprat Sandwich
#Food
- The Estonian Sprat Sandwich, a bread-and-fish dish that differs significantly in the north, is famous in Slavic cuisines and is a natural culinary emanation of a country encircled by so much sea.
- Kiluvileib is offered at all occasions, from casual get-togethers to birthdays, holidays, weddings, and funerals, and is always enjoyed with gusto.
- A good quality marinated sprat fillet, a slice of dark bread (see above), butter or a mayonnaise-like sauce, a cooked or poached egg, possibly sprinkled with aromatic herbs, and voila! Your new favourite sandwich!
Mulgipuder – Potato and Groats Porridge
#Food

- This potato and groats mash, a favourite of Chef Silver Saa's traditional Estonian cuisine, hailed from South Estonia and was traditionally made in the morning and left to simmer all day when peasants got home from the fields.
- It can indeed be made faster now. It only requires two essential ingredients: potatoes and groats for the vegan version, or lard, fermented/sour milk, and some fried onions and bacon for the original Estonian form.
