Vodice: Food, Fun & Fashion Guide
Tlačenica
#Food
- Tlačenica is a sort of pressed pork sausage produced from pork organs, often the pig's heart, tongue, skin, and cheeks.
- The meat is prepared by being cooked, deboned, and cut into pieces. It is then spiced and combined with some of the cooking liquid before being placed into a large intestine or stomach of a clean pig.
- Different regions use different spices to season the meat, but they typically include salt, black pepper, sweet or hot paprika, and garlic.
- The sausage is packed, cooked in water over low heat, chilled, and then pressed.
- This meat product, also known as vargl, presvurt, or prezvurt, can either be served after being cooked and pressed or smoked and dried for up to two weeks in traditional smokehouses.
Mohanty
#Food
- Mohanty a semi-soft cheese prepared from raw cow's milk, with a colour ranging from white to pale yellowish or buttery beige.
- It stands out from other cheeses made throughout the country due to its well-known savoury, tangy, somewhat bitter, and strongly musty scent.
- The final flavour and lumpy texture of Mohant are greatly influenced by the conventional two-phase production method and ripening procedure.
- Mohanty is manufactured from full-fat milk in the summer when the cheese ripens more quickly naturally, and it takes just approximately six weeks to mature, whereas skimmed milk is used in the winter and can take up to three months to ripen.
Bohinjski sir
#Food
- Bohinjski sir is a type of cheese made in Slovenia like Emmentaler.
- The cheese was created for the first time in 1873 when a Swiss cheesemaker began teaching local shepherds how to produce Swiss cheese. Whether raw or heated, cow's milk is used to make bohinjski.
- The texture is rigid and open, with numerous huge eyes spread throughout the body beneath its stiff and dry natural skin.
- The aromas are initially mild, nutty, and aromatic, but as the cheese ages longer, its characteristics intensify and become slightly spicy.

- Within a short boat or bus ride of Sibenik is the breathtaking natural expanse of Krka. Seven waterfalls, islets, lakes, rapids, water mills, and a few old monasteries are present in this forested area.
- The closest similarity you can draw is Niagara. With its 17-step succession of cascades, Skradinski Buk's 800-meter-long waterfall, the picture-postcard centrepiece of the Krka National Park, astounds visitors.
- Tourists swim in its crystal-clear pools amid waters that crash 45 metres above their heads.
- The most adaptable and surprising of Croatia's eight national parks is home to several attractions bordered by boardwalks for easy access.
- The Krka National Park is located beside the lovely town of Skradin, close to the city of Ibenik in central Dalmatia, and is called for the 75-kilometre-long Krka river that it essentially encircles.
- Like Plitvice, Krka is covered in the wonder and miracle of natural travertine. The level of natural interaction is where the two diverge.
- Krka offers experiential adventure in contrast to Plitvice's raw power. Visit the Roki Slap waterfall on the four-hour riverboat cruise to find out.
- The 222 bird species, 19 varieties of reptiles, 18 species of bats, 860 plant types, rushing torrents leading to the Krka estuary, and three villages on the riverbanks give Krka its distinctive character.
- You realise that Krka isn't just one thing but numerous things at once as you return to the land and see gorgeous swans swimming through neighbourhood fishers wearing worn-out sweaters and rubber waders.
- It consists of a river, a gorge, a monastery, a group of settlements, and a location where people still get their food. Additionally, visitors can stop at an ethno-stone village’s dwelling, mills, traditional and functional weaving looms, and the non-traditional gift shop.
- The three-star Hotel Vrata Kirke, with 50 rooms and its restaurant and bar, is now located next to the recently opened Visitor Center at the main entrance in Skradin. At the front desk, trips to Krka can be scheduled.
